Two Hosted Weeks In One Quiet Corner of Patagonia
Isolation Outfitters announces two small-group hosted fly-fishing weeks at La Pilarica Lodge in Northern Patagonia for the 2026/27 trout season.
Fly fishing in Patagonia has become a popular destination for anglers. But there’s another side to Argentine Patagonia – a place with fewer boats, cool clear rivers flowing out of mountain-fed lakes, abundant wild trout and a boutique lodge tucked into the mountains of Chubut.
We can take you there. We have locked off two weeks at La Pilarica Lodge, a purposefully small fly-fishing lodge near Cholila and Los Alerces National Park in Northern Patagonia, and we’re holding these dates for you:

Each Saturday–Friday week is limited to a maximum of six anglers, plus an Isolation Outfitters host. This small group size provides the freedom and flexibility to fish the best water available each day and meet up for drinks and to swap stories each evening, back at the lodge. FISH A QUIETER CORNER OF PATAGONIA
Sited riverside, La Pilarica Lodge is situated near the tiny Villa Lago Rivadavia, surrounded by glacial lakes, clear freestone rivers, ancient forests and working cattle country.
The lodge's home water is the Río Carrileufú – a spectacular fishery in of itself, but that is only the beginning.
Over five days of guided fishing, our program can take us across different sections of the Carrileufú as well as the Río Rivadavia, Río Arrayanes, plus nearby lakes and some technical spring creeks.
Wild brown and rainbow trout are the primary targets, with brook trout and even the potential of landlocked salmon adding another dimension to the fishery.
Expect a genuine mix of Patagonia fly fishing over the week: drift boats, walk-and-wade sessions, dry flies, nymphs, streamers, lake edges and sight-fishing opportunities.
Where we fish on any particular day will depend on water levels, weather, hatches and what the group wants to achieve. That's exactly how we like it.
TWO VERY DIFFERENT WINDOWS
We've deliberately chosen dates at two distinct points in the Northern Patagonia season.
Our December 05–11 week arrives in early summer, when the season is settling in, the countryside is alive and visitor numbers remain relatively low.
The February 27–March 5 week comes at the other end of summer, with established dry-fly opportunities and the first signs of the productive autumn period for larger brown trout.
One of the attractions of this part of Patagonia is its consistently cool water. The rivers and lakes surrounding La Pilarica remain viable throughout the summer season, giving the guides plenty of options as conditions change.
SMALL LODGE. SERIOUS FISHING.
La Pilarica has just five ensuite guest rooms and feels more like a large private Patagonian home.
After fishing, the group comes back to mountain views, a substantial fireplace, a fly-tying corner and a kitchen led by the masterful Chef Iñaki.
Expect Patagonian lamb, seasonal local produce, homemade dishes and desserts, Argentine wine and the kind of dinners that become an important part of a good hosted week. And expect asado, of course!
The small scale of the lodge is also important to the fishing. With only six anglers in our hosted group, the guides have room to adapt the program and move us onto new water offering the best opportunity each day.
WE'LL MEET YOU IN ARGENTINA
As with all Isolation Outfitters hosted expeditions, we'll take care of much more than simply reserving a room and pointing you toward the river.
We'll help coordinate the journey through Argentina and meet the group in Buenos Aires on Friday before heading south to Esquel and La Pilarica on Saturday. For those who arrive into BA on Friday, we’ll buy you dinner downtown, and perhaps we can fit in an evening tango show, that the city is so renowned for.
The hosted package includes six nights at La Pilarica, five days of guided fishing, all meals, snacks and beverages at the lodge, return transfers from Esquel Airport, fishing licenses and Los Alerces National Park fees, together with our experienced Isolation Outfitters hosting and comprehensive pre-trip planning.
We can also assist with locating Buenos Aires accommodation, suggest the best domestic flight schedule and airport transfers, or build in some additional travel in Argentina around the fishing.
For anglers wanting to make a larger journey of it, Patagonia and Mendoza extensions can easily be added before or after the hosted week. Mendoza offers some incredible wine experiences, together with fly fishing on horseback.

Hosted-week rates start at US$4,600 per angler for a shared room with two anglers sharing a boat and guide.
Solo anglers are very welcome and can be matched with a compatible fishing partner. A single-room option with a shared boat and guide is also available for US$5,700 per angler, subject to availability.
