CHALLHUAQUEN LODGE HOSTED WEEK, TREVELIN, ARGENTINA
06–13 MARCH 2027: SIX DAYS ACROSS PATAGONIA’S RIVERS, LAKES & SPRING CREEKS
A FULL SATURDAY-TO-SATURDAY WEEK
Join Isolation Outfitters for seven nights and six guided fishing days at Challhuaquen Lodge, near Trevelin in Argentine Patagonia. The Saturday-to-Saturday format puts an additional full day on the water compared with the conventional six-night, five-day program, giving you more time to settle into the rhythm of the week, explore contrasting fisheries and follow the best regional weather conditions.
March is a beautiful late-season window in northern Patagonia. Cooler mornings, changing colors and lower, clearer water will reward thoughtful presentations, while the range of rivers, lakes and spring creeks gives guides and guests options as weather, hatches and water levels change.
DESTINATION & WATER
Challhuaquen Lodge sits beside the broad Río Futaleufú, the lodge’s home river and one of Patagonia’s defining trout fisheries. From this base, the fishing program can reach an exceptional network of waters rather than relying on a single river.
Depending on conditions and the group’s objectives, the week may include the Río Rivadavia and Río Arrayanes inside Los Alerces National Park; Lago Verde; Lago Krüger and the Estrecho de los Monstruos; the intimate channels of Arroyo Pescado; the Corintos and Percey systems; and longer-range options towards the Corcovado and Río Pico country.
No rigid daily schedule is imposed. Challhuaquen’s guides choose the best water each morning, balancing river levels, wind, hatches, travel time and the style of fishing the group most wants to experience.
TARGET SPECIES & FISHING STYLE
Wild brown and rainbow trout are the principal quarry, with opportunities for brook trout on selected waters. Expect a flexible mix of drift-boat fishing, walk-and-wade days, technical spring-creek work and lake fishing. Dry flies, nymphs and streamers all have a place; your guides will adapt tackle and tactics to the water in front of you.
THE LODGE
Set on the banks of the Futaleufú, Challhuaquen combines a serious fishing location with a polished lodge experience. Six private suites have ensuite bathrooms and river or mountain views. Between fishing days, guests return to generous meals, Argentine wines, a welcoming restaurant and lounge, a fly-tying room and spa facilities.
ITINERARY OVERVIEW
Friday March 05: We arrive into Buenos Aires, transfer to hotel and dinner in the city.
Saturday March 06: Arrive Esquel, lodge transfer (1 hour), settle in and prepare tackle.
Sunday March 07 – Friday 12: Six guided fishing days. The program is selected daily from the Futaleufú and the wider network of rivers, lakes and spring creeks.
Saturday March 13: Breakfast and transfer to Esquel Airport for onward travel.
GEAR TO PACK
A practical Patagonia selection normally centers on 5- and 6-weight rods, floating lines, suitable leaders and dependable wading gear. A heavier streamer set-up may be useful on larger water.
We will provide a detailed trip-specific packing list and personal tackle guidance before departure, as well as a full day-by-day program for the week.

NON-ANGLING PARTNERS & ACTIVITIES
Challhuaquen is also an excellent base for non-angling partners. A personalized program can be arranged around individual interests, allowing partners to explore the region independently or join the group at the lodge between fishing days.
Activities available on request include winery and vineyard tours, shopping excursions into Esquel, scenic fixed-wing or helicopter flights, horse-trekking, birdwatching, regional sightseeing, and guided day or overnight hikes through Patagonia’s forests and mountain country.
Time at the lodge can be equally restorative. Guests can enjoy the mountain spa, dry sauna, jacuzzi, Scottish shower and massage room, or simply relax beside the fire and take in the views across the Futaleufú valley.
Activities are subject to availability, weather and seasonal conditions. Additional costs may apply. Isolation Outfitters can also arrange wider Patagonia, Buenos Aires, San Martin de los Andes, or Mendoza extensions before or after the hosted week. We recommend booking a wine tour in Mendoza if you are planning to fish this region.
WHY FISH CHALLHUAQUEN WITH US?
This week is built around choice. The Futaleufú alone offers scale and variety, but Challhuaquen’s wider program can move from powerful freestone water to crystalline national-park rivers, stillwater structure and precise spring-creek fishing. Six guided days give the group more chances to see that range—and the flexibility to return to water that is fishing particularly well.
Isolation Outfitters hosts the trip on the ground and supports the journey from the first planning conversation to the final transfer. You gain a carefully organized week, direct access to local guide knowledge and the easy camaraderie of a small group, without losing the ability to tailor each day to the anglers and conditions.

HOSTED TRIP ENQUIRIES
Contact Isolation Outfitters with the number of anglers, room preference and a short outline of your fly-fishing experience. We will confirm current availability, talk through whether the week suits your goals and provide the complete booking pack.
AIRLINE ROUTING
International guests generally route through Buenos Aires before connecting to Esquel Airport (EQS). Buenos Aires’ international and domestic airports are separate, so allow generous connection time or plan an overnight stay. We can advise on sensible flight timing, hotels and ground transfers.
LODGE TRANSFERS
Return ground transfers between Esquel Airport and Challhuaquen Lodge are included. The lodge lies near Trevelin, with the journey carrying you west through Chubut towards the Andean foothills.
CONNECTIVITY
Whilst there is WiFi at the lodge, mobile connectivity around the lodge property and on the water can vary. Plan on limited mobile service during fishing days and treat reliable river connectivity as unavailable. There is mobile coverage at Esquel airport, in Esquel and surrounding Trevelin.
TRAVEL & MEDICAL COVER
All guests should hold comprehensive travel insurance covering cancellation, medical treatment and emergency evacuation. Carry policy details and emergency contacts throughout the journey.
RATE & BOOKING
The current rate is US$5,800 per angler (double occupancy) for the Saturday 06 March – Saturday 13 March 2027 hosted week.
The rate covers seven nights and six guided fishing days, together with the inclusions listed above. Once availability and your room arrangement are confirmed, Isolation Outfitters will issue a detailed invoice, payment schedule and booking terms. A place is secured only when the required deposit has been received.
SINGLE ANGLERS
Solo anglers are welcome. We will match you with a compatible fishing partner where required and confirm the available room arrangement before booking. Please ask us for single room and guide rates.
NON-ANGLING PARTNERS
Non-angling partners are welcome subject to space. Trevelin and the surrounding region offer walks, scenic touring, food and cultural experiences; we can also build a broader Argentina itinerary before or after the hosted week.
HOW TO RESERVE
Feel free to call or email us to discuss this hosted week.
