Aitutaki, Cook Islands
We have hosted trips running in Aitutaki in April and October 2027. Aitutaki is a tropical fly fishing paradise – remote but far from rustic. Boutique air-conditioned lodging and high quality fresh local cuisine awaits after a long day on white sand flats.
What Aitutaki offers in abundance is world-class flats fishing in 30 square miles of crystal-clear lagoons.
You’ll be sight-casting to bonefish, bluefin and giant trevally, wading pristine flats over a memorable week of flats fishing, soaking in turquoise waters and unforgettable South Pacific atoll scenery.
For US anglers, we recommend arriving into Rarotonga from Honolulu Friday evening, and transferring to Aitutaki on Saturday morning. This gives you 5 and a half days of guided fishing on the atoll, plus Sunday is yours to explore, dive, or fish on your own. You travel back to Rarotonga the following Friday (or Saturday early morning) for your Rarotonga to Honolulu homeward flight.
The island enjoys several close-by dining choices for evening meals and we can advise on accommodation options to meet your budget.
Expect to fish for large bonefish each day, exceptional giant trevally, bluefin trevally and triggerfish, plus other species. All guides and boatmen are highly experienced. Fly selection lists, packing lists are provided on booking.

Ikari House, Christmas Island
Ikari House Lodge is one of the top three fly fishing accommodation/guide/boat providers on Kiritimati. Its London location means a slightly longer commute from the airport when you arrive , but then every day requires a very short transfer down to the beach and to the Ikari House fast boats.
It’s only a short walk to village shops for fruit/wine/beer/provisions and snacks or island nightlife if inclined.
The kitchen staff are exceptional and serve a great cooked breakfast, and the lodge enjoys attentive room staff as you’ll experience.
Importantly Ikari House owns — and therefore has priority access to — the fast boats used by the boat drivers who will take you out to the flats. This means that during the busy visitor season, you and your boat will be parked on the flat of your choice well ahead of the slower pangas carrying envious guests from the other lodges.
A discussion with us, your guide or the Ikari House head guide each day can help to plan your week around visits to the Korean Wreak if desired, returning to a previous location, or dialing up focus on one particular species. the team are flexible and very willing to help.
We have direct access to senior guides and can assist with liaison to ensure your satisfaction.
Christmas Island (Kiritimati) also has fabulous offshore GT, tuna and wahoo if you want to ask your boatman to push out beyond the breakers and pack the right gear.
