BEACHFRONT LODGES (AND THATCHED HUTS)
After a hot day on the water, your lodge should feel like a reward.
Sure, some are by necessity simple thatched huts, given their isolated atoll location. But other lodges with road access offer five-star facilities.
Every property we partner with is designed specifically for anglers with air-conditioned rooms where possible, cold drinks waiting on your arrival, friendly staff with big smiles, daily room service, and rod wash downs to protect your valuable gear.
If you’re ok eating in an open air maneaba (meeting house) and sleeping in thatched huts, check out our Fanning Island destination.

An Aitutaki Adventure
Destination: Aitutaki, Cook Islands, South Pacific Ocean
Dates: August 14-22, 2026 (One week)
Focus: Trophy bonefish on idyllic South Pacific flats
Group size: Limited to six anglersDescription:
Aitutaki is the definition of remote tropical beauty – turquoise lagoons, white sand motu’s (islets), and saltwater flats so clear they look retouched. But beneath the postcard surface lies one of the most exciting and challenging bonefish fisheries in the world. These aren’t schoolies. Aitutaki’s bonefish are big — routinely in the 6–10 lb range, with some pushing well into double digits. They’re powerful, wily, and often solitary. You’ll be hunting true trophies in gin-clear water, often with your heart pounding and backing already disappearing.
Our hosted trip to the beautiful atoll of Aitutaki is designed for experienced anglers who want to combine island time with serious flats fishing.
You’ll be based on the main island with access to expert local guides and skiffs that get you quickly to the prime flats. Between sessions, unwind with fresh island food, cold beer, and lagoon views that don’t quit.
This is a trip that pairs world-class fly fishing with full immersion into Pacific island life – all planned by the team at Isolation Outfitters and hosted by our founder, Michael Gregg.
Think of it as your tropical reset button... with tailing bones and some mighty big GTs.

We’re heading back to Fanning Island for a week in November 2026. This trip is for those who couldn’t make our ‘Last Flats’ hosted trips in April or October.

After five days of fishing, we return to Christmas Island on Tuesday afternoon for our customary trip celebration and take the Wednesday morning flight back to Honolulu (US anglers), or Wednesday afternoon for those heading back to Australia/New Zealand via Fiji.
There is an option to fish Christmas Island the previous week, or to stay on and fish CXI the following week, or even to stay on Fanning for an extra few days. Talk to us and we can help plan your week on Fanning Island.
