THE FISHING

Tres Rios gives your group direct access to three distinct northern Patagonia rivers. Four established float programs, approximately nine miles of private lower Chimehuín water, feeder creeks and side channels allow the guides to shape each day around flows, temperature, hatches and the priorities of the anglers.

THE CHIMEHUÍN

Clear and beautifully structured, the lower Chimehuín offers riffles, glides, channels and productive banks where accurate presentation can be rewarded by strong wild brown and rainbow trout. Depending on the beat, a day can combine floating with deliberate walk-and-wade fishing.

THE ALUMINÉ

The Aluminé brings classic Patagonian scale, with long drifts, varied currents and productive banks. Dry flies, dry-dropper rigs, nymphs and streamers all have their place, while the boat makes it possible to cover water without rushing the fishing.

THE COLLÓN CURÁ

Formed by the meeting of the Chimehuín and Aluminé, the Collón Curá is a broad, powerful river. Islands, side channels, riffles and sweeping banks create varied targets, with opportunities to fish from both boat and bank.

HOW THE FISHING WORKS

The three rivers are not variations on one fishery. Each has its own scale, structure and character. Guides can move between them and supplement the four floats with private wading water, feeder creeks and side channels.

Mayflies, caddis and larger terrestrials can produce excellent dry-fly fishing. Dry-dropper rigs are highly effective, while nymphs and streamers remain important when conditions require them. The lodge can provide fishing equipment, although experienced anglers may prefer familiar rods, reels and lines.

A TYPICAL DAY

After breakfast, guests leave with their guides for a full day on the Chimehuín, Aluminé or Collón Curá. The program may involve a long drift, float-to-wade fishing or a full day on foot if you prefer. Water, weather, insect activity and angler preference determine the route, rather than a fixed itinerary.

WHEN TO GO

Tres Rios Casa de Campo operates throughout the Patagonia trout season. Isolation Outfitters particularly recommends November and December, before the region enters its busiest vacation period, and March/April, when cooler nights and lighter traffic can produce clear, settled conditions.

Trips can be arranged at other times, and the rivers offer new challenges and opportunities as the fishing season progresses.

THE LODGE

Tres Rios Casa de Campo is a welcoming country lodge approximately 45 minutes from San Martín de los Andes. It generally hosts a group of six to eight guests, creating an unhurried atmosphere and a fishing program shaped around that party.

The main ranch house has three spacious guest rooms with private bathrooms, a generous living area and an intimate dining room finished with a hand-distressed bar and exposed local-hardwood rafters. An adjacent stone house provides private accommodation for two additional guests.

FOOD, WINE AND SUSTAINABILITY

Hospitality centers on the dining table. Gourmet meals showcase ingredients grown and raised in the Collón Curá Valley, accompanied by premium Argentine wines and traditional Patagonian asados.

Local stone construction, solar and wind power, fresh produce and ranch-raised ingredients connect the stay closely to the valley without compromising comfort.

BEYOND THE THREE RIVERS

A wider northern Patagonia itinerary can also incorporate the Malleo, Quilquihue, Filo Hua Hum, Traful and Limay. Some are best approached as day trips or lodge combinations; Isolation Outfitters can build the most rewarding program around the time available.
