CHRISTMAS ISLAND HOSTED TRIP: OCTOBER 2026
SEPT 30 – Oct 7, 2026:
CHRISTMAS ISLAND Guided Fly Fishing
JOIN US FOR A HOSTED WEEK ON CHRISTMAS ISLAND
Christmas Island is an iconic saltwater fly fishing destination. With the largest land area of any atoll on earth and over 125 square miles of Kiritimati Lagoon, CXI offers a lifetime of fishable flats.
Bonefish and giant trevally are the core target species for visiting fly anglers, with bluefin trevally, triggerfish and milkfish providing additional interest.
Our hosted week program is well-supported by anglers from around the globe and is a chance to meet new anglers and enjoy the camaraderie of the fishing fraternity, to enjoy new destinations (or to revisit the special places for our regulars), and to trial and evaluate new premium and ultra-premium tackle from world-class manufacturers that we source and supply for each expedition.
Isolation Outfitters is proud to be working with Ikari House Fly Fishing Lodge. The lodge has a great team of highly experienced guides, plus attentive kitchen and house staff. The air-conditioned rooms available to us are well-appointed. Meals include buffet style dinners, continental and cooked breakfasts, packed lunches (either sandwiches and snacks, or you can choose the guide lunch of tuna, rice and spicy sauce like we do), plus pre-dinner sushi, sashimi and other treats on your arrival back at the lodge after a long day.
The week starts on arrival at Cassidy International Airport (CXI) on Christmas Island. We meet you at the airport, load bags and anglers on the open deck trucks and head for Ikari House.

CHRISTMAS ISLAND: PERFECT FLATS FISHING
A trip to Christmas Island is classic saltwater fly fishing distilled to its purest form. It’s remote, comfortable with simple accommodation and hearty meals, and an easy rhythm that keeps you focused on the flats.
What CXI truly delivers is variety and volume. Bonefish tail across miles of white sand, Triggerfish prowl coral edges, and Giant Trevally appear out of nowhere like fighter jets. Every day brings a new angle and more shots.
You’ll spend long sessions wading expansive flats under big Pacific skies — sometimes heavy with tropical cloud and other times cobalt blue skies — covering water with experienced local guides who know every ebb of these tides. Over a focused week, it’s all about finding fish, working the tides, and quality casting time.
It’s iconic, fish-rich, and endlessly addictive—classic Christmas Island. Then the hosted week provides camaraderie, shared advice, celebrations and extra treats that make it a highly memorable life experience. Join us for our hosted week in October 2026.
GENERAL INFORMATION
CHRISTMAS HOSTED TRIP ENQUIRIES
Please contact us by sending us a message via our Contact Form, or calling us to discuss availability.
We will share more trip information with you via email and phone to discuss this adventure, answer your questions and understand more about your saltwater fly fishing experience and what you’re looking for from this trip.
SKILL LEVEL
You do NOT need to be an expert saltwater fly angler to enjoy this trip. We, together with your guide, will assist you throughout the trip. Being able to cast proficiently is a prerequisite though. You should be able to cast heavy flies into wind with a 7-9 weight rod and use 10-12 weight single handed rods and saltwater fly lines to increase your chances on the local GT’s.
WEATHER
Being close to the equator, it’s warm every day – typically within a couple of degrees of 80 Fahrenheit (27 Celsius). It’s often windy, more so as the day progresses, and rain squalls that can arrive without warning and sweep rapidly across the atoll. You’ll need to pack a light rain jacket in your boat bag. It can be breezy traveling by fast boat to our daily destinations, so bring a warm hoody or vest just in case.
Otherwise, sun protection is the order of the day. Pack suncream, quality sun protection apparel, a Buff and gloves, wide-brimmed hat (and a backup in case your cap blows away on the boat trip), chapstick for your lips and we’ll have plenty of water to stay hydrated in the icy chilly bin. You’ll also welcome to drop a couple of cans of beer into the ice for the trip home.
CONNECTIVITY
There is good WiFi connectivity on Christmas Island. As this is a hosted trip, we also carry Garmin InReach Mini2 messaging devices for remote connectivity. The lodge guides carry VHF radios to connect with Ikari House or other boats if necessary.
In the event of a serious medical emergency, we can have immediate direct contact with Global Rescue (or whomever provides your evacuation cover) and Ikari House management to arrange urgent transport to the nearest medical centre if possible.
FARE PAYMENT
The fare for this hosted week package is outlined on this page in US Dollars (USD$) and will not change after final confirmation of your booking (confirmed by receipt of your deposit payment to Isolation Outfitters), regardless of any fluctuations in international currency, fuel or travel costs. Any costs for these will be invoiced directly to you and are payable before the trip commences.
