ROOM WITH A VIEW, FANNING ISLAND
DOUBLE DIGIT BONEFISH, FANNING ISLAND, EQUATOR
FANNING ISLAND APRIL 2026
Not much bigger than 30 square miles, and with a maximum elevation of only 3 metres above sea level, Fanning Island in the Pacific Ocean is not a place for the faint-hearted. It is primitive living with little cooking resources, basic thatched hut accommodation and limited weekly access by plane.
What Fanning Island does have in abundance is truly spectacular remote flats fly fishing. Double digit Bonefish, huge Giant and Bluefin Trevally among other species, all available on the fly, wading and casting on endless flats for up to 10 hours a day for a week.
HOST & GUIDES ONHAND
In early April 2026, six lucky saltwater anglers will have a week on Christmas Island (Kiritimati), staying at Ikari House, to chase some bonefish and Giant Trevally before we depart for the remote Fanning Island.
Only 6 fishermen can fish on this remote tidal atoll with Isolation Outfitters each week. We’ve checked the moon, evaluated the tides, and have booked in a 14 day run when we, and our local chief guide, reckon the bones will be at their best, at Christmas Island and on Fanning Island during a two week window.
We can share the full itinerary, packing lists, tackle and other information for this unique location to those who wish to register their interest (no commitment, no cash required). Email us or give us a call to be added to the list.
This trip is strictly limited to six anglers so remember our policy: first in goes fishing.

LOCATION AT A GLANCE
New Zealand and Australian anglers have an early morning arrival into Christmas Island (Kiritimati, CXI) via Nadi airport in Fiji. Our USA-domiciled clients will meet us at CXI, flying in via Honolulu, later the same day.
[Note: The flight departs Honolulu on Tuesdays and crosses the international date line, arriving one day later in CXI on a Wednesday.]
After 6 days/nights on Kiritimati, we take the weekly (Tuesday) scenic flight to Fanning Island (also called Tabuaeran) for 7 days/7 nights wading stunning flats, trophy bonefishing and chasing epic Giant Trevally.
We head back to Christmas Island for a night of celebrations, stories and repacking. For those flying via Honolulu, it’s an early Wednesday morning start. Anglers flying to Fiji have an additional day on CXI before departure and are recommended to book a final morning on Paris Flat before your afternoon flight departs.
